Putting the Damage On

There were moments, usually in the early morning, where our walls collapsed. Legs, fingers intertwined, we slept, breathing like one creature. This was us at our best: in rhythm, without the static of our waking selves constantly negotiating distance. Had we spent more time sleeping and less time awake, I suspect there may have been a different ending.

Unfortunately, we are both insomniacs.
